Madison County is located on the Mississippi River and Horseshoe Lake in Illinois and is part of the St. Louis Metro Area. Its county seat is Edwardsville.
Horseshoe Lake is the second-largest natural lake in Illinois after Lake Michigan. Madison County has developed more than 85 miles of scenic bikeways that weave throughout the communities of Edwardsville and nearby Glen Carbon and beyond.

The village is located approximately 15 miles north of downtown St. Louis, Missouri on the Mississippi River.
